How to crochet numbers?

ldarsey1

Question

How does one crochet numbers in crochet? I have a pattern

that I want to figure out how to crochet my daughter's varsity

jersey number into. Is there a way to do this, or must I cross stich it

on ? I am rather new to crochet, and plan to do this on the border.

Sure, it's easy to crochet numbers. It's a simple graph pattern. And there are websites with number graphs. http://www.freepatternsonline.com/xscharts/numbers.htm

That site in particular has several graphs of numbers. It's a cross stitch site, but it's easily adaptable to crochet. The stickied thread on crochet graphs will explain how you can follow the graph.

Hope this helps.

If you are crocheting a sweater, you need to know how many stitches are in the rows you want to include the number in. You need to take graph paper and design the number in boxes on the graph paper that will correspond to the stitch number you will start to crochet the number in ,switching your yarn color to the color of the number and switching back to the other color, row by row. I'm not sure this will help you but I hope so.:)
