hat size for child's hat - please

Could someone please tell me what the length of a hat (from crown to brim) would be for a 3-4 year old ?

 

I have all these measurement sites bookmarked, but never seem to find what I am looking for

Perhaps, someone who has made a hat in that site could help? Please.

My daughter is 4 and I just measured her head from her crown to the middle of her ear (were a hat would probably end) and it was 7". Maybe that will help.

See, I made a hat (intended it for my adult son), somehow I was off, it turned out way too small, but it is a nice-looking hat, so I decided to give it as a little gift to a little three-year old. Except, I had no clue how big it should be.

So, an actual measurement REALLY helps. Thanks for taking the time to measure and respond:)
