Technical Question about WS and RS

mudpie

Question

I have been crocheting for more than 40 years and knitting for more than 30. But I have never been confident about the meaning of this: end on WS. Does that mean that the last row you did started on the wrong side, or does it mean that once the last row is done and you turn your work, you should NOW be on the wrong side?

I'm with you, Deneen. But my question isn't about which side IS the right or wrong side, but technically, what constitutes ending WS. I'm probably overthinking this, aren't I?

Usually Row 1 is the "right side" but I have seen alot of patterns which specifically indicate what row 1 is. Most of my patterns have a (RS) at the beginning of the pattern, like this: Row 1 (RS): followed by pattern instructions. I hope I helped!

Thanks, girls. That was pretty much my thinking, too. I tend to over analyze things, and lose my confidence. But I'll say I'm sure now, because you all agree.
