Undyed okay?

Even as I type this, I'm thinking it's a stupid question, but I must ask anyway. I have no interest in dyeing yarn, but I want some natural color laceweight or fingering yarn. I found this at KnitPicks: http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/yarn_display.aspx?itemid=5420139 . My question is this: this yarn says it is ready to dye. I have read that when you gals use kool-aid to dye, you put it in the microwave to set the color. Is that the only purpose the heat serves? I mean, is there a problem using this yarn as-is without dyeing and heating?

Thank you, Roxanne. I picked up some very nice knit and crochet baby blanket and outfit patterns from the UK (ebay auctions), and the patterns are intricate and I think they would look best just done simply in undyed wool.
