Counting/Pattern Problem :(

I am following a pattern and I have taken it out like four times because the total number of stitches does not add up. I think the pattern is flawed, but I don't know. Could someone work it up and let me know how many stitches they get?

 

Chain 27

DC in fourth ch from hook and in next 5 chs, ch 2, skip next 2 chs, sc in next chain, ch 1, skip next 2 chs, (dc, ch 1) 3 times in next ch, skip next 2 chs, sc in next ch, ch 2, skip next 2 chs, dc in last 7 chs: 19 sts and 6 sps

 

It says you should have 19 stitches, but I only count 18.

from what you have written and I counted, they are counting the first skipped chains as a dc as well, there is to have 7 dc at the front and last on the row...

I just tried it. They are counting the first four chains as a dc. So, you've got 7 dc on either side.

Ok, thanks Lisa and bren. I figures they were counting that, but when I do it I still only get 18. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. MMM, peculiar.

In this part, you have 7 stitches,

 

ch 2, skip next 2 chs, sc in next chain, there's another 1 = 8 total

 

ch 1, skip next 2 chs, (dc, ch 1) 3 times in next ch,

 

3 more, = 11 total

 

 

skip next 2 chs, sc in next ch, another one = 12 total

 

ch 2, skip next 2 chs, dc in last 7 chs: 19 sts and 6 sps--7 more = 19

They are counting the first "3" chain as a stitch, not the first 4. And doing this, it does work out to 19 stitches.

I am going to do this again later. I think I am just missing a sticth but my eyes are too tired to see it.
