Zen Scarf Help

photojenic

Question

I've been trying to make the Zen scarf from this past Crochet Me! edition. However, either I'm doing something wrong.....or there's a funny "kink" because of the pattern.

One side of the scarf is always straight, and the other side is always bumpy. The bumpy side is the one that ends/begins with the chain 3, turn, DC. Anyone else notice this or have this problem?

I'm using the Moda Dea tape yarn, so maybe that is my problem. I really like this pattern, but the bumpy side is driving me nuts! :rant

I've been working on Teppers "shrug-a-licious" (I'm almost done!) But she does a neat little trick with the turning chain in the pattern in place of the typical ch 3. It goes as follows: at end of row turn, sc into first stitch, ch 2, cont. stitching as pattern specifys. Then when coming to the end of the row put your stitch into the 2nd ch. I hope this helps I thought it was so clever I'm going to always use it. Please post pictures when the scarf is done it looks beautiful! :)
