Ok, I know this has probably been answered before but since I have no idea what the answer is I'm going to ask.

Which comes first....

Dye then felt.......... OR

Felt then Dye??

I want to felt a scarf and hat when I'm finished with them and I think I have it figured out how to felt (looks rather easy) but I don't have a clue to dye or felt first.

As far as I know it doesn't matter. I've seen it successfully done both ways.

it's totally up to you! it's fun (MHO) to dye it first then see what happens when you crochet or knit it up! it's fun seeing how the colors turn out too!
