Pattern trouble

My pattern tells me to:

[dc (see pattern notes) in back bar of next sk hdc 3 rnds below, ch 2, sk next sc]

However, when I read pattern notes as instructed, it tells me:

Work all dc in front of chain-2 spaces of previous 2 rnds.

My question is how can I work a dc in the back bar 3 rnds below AND work dc in front of chain-2 spaces of previous 2 rounds?

Have you worked it to this point?   Sometimes things make more sense as you actually do it.  

Its telling you to put your hook into the back bar of the stitch 3 rows down but the stitch you make will lay on top / in front of the ch 2 spaces.
