gauge swatch issue

When I start my gauge swatch it's the correct width for 2-3 rows but as I get to the end (like 14 rows) it's too narrow? the gauge is still perfectly square so I'm not dropping stitches but I can't figure out why the whole square has shrunk. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the 'ville!   Can you post a photo? In the box where you type a post, there is an area at the bottom where you can drag an image file of type pdf, jpg, jpeg, gif, png.

If something starts off square at the bottom, and then ends up narrowing at the top, it can still be square, it would have to be doing something like /  | or /  \.  If it looks like this, /  / , that is a common problem for beginners turning rows 'without following the rules' but that is not narrowing.

Could it be that your tension changes as you get 'in the groove' of working on your project for a few rows?
