British vs. American Crochet Terms: Are These Different ?

Are these different ?  British and American Terminology, read this post.  This has been useful for me.

Good to point out, the turning chains are a big clue, like 'chain 3, treble crochet' (where we'd chain 3 for DC), or 'chain 1, DC) (where we in the US would chain 1 for SC).  Also, "if it says single crochet, it ain't UK" is a little rhyme I ran across a long time ago, a good thing for new crocheters to remember  

To those who like to work vintage patterns, patterns published in the US around  WW1 are in current UK terms but by 1930 they are in current US terms.  Before 1900 the terms were different yet again, I've worked a couple of patterns from the 1840s but needed to 'translate' them first.
