Help with pocket shawl

I am working on a pocket shawl, following a YouTube pattern. I feel like the width is narrower than I would like now that I have started. I don’t like fringe. Can I add a border on the bottom without messing up the drape?

Whether it changes the drape might depend on a lot of factors, my guess is if it's all the same stitch just worked at 90°, probably not.

What if you added 'half a border' on both sides, to get the total width you want?  Most of the patterns I'm quickly flipping thru on Ravelry have narrower pockets than the shawl, centered at the shawl ends, example this search is for crochet pocket shawl patterns that are free, and in English.

Thank you for the help. I think I am going to add a border at least to the bottom, maybe to the top also.
