Help with stitch ID.

Hello all.  My mother-in-law made a clutch for me using the stitch in the attached picture.  I was hoping to replicate the stitch, but unfortunately, she doesn't remember how she did it.  She thinks it was a SC and DC?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that is a VERY interesting stitch, but I am not familiar with it.  There is a stitch pattern which is sc, dc, repeat - then in the next row, same thing but sc in the dc and dc in the sc -- but this isn't it (that one is called the 'up down' stitch, 'griddle' stitch and probably other names I'm not recalling).
