My pattern asks me to- R4: work 2sc in each st around (12). R5: (1sc, inc)*6 (18)

What is the difference between these two instructions?

In R3 you make 2 sc into each of the 6 stitches in R2 and you will have 12 stitches total in R3.

In R4 you make 1sc into first stitch of R3 and then make 2 sc into the next stitch of R3.  You continue around making 1sc into one stitch and 2sc into the next stitch for a total of 6 times.  You made 6 increases on this round so you have 18 total stitches.
