Welcome to the 'ville!  

Yarn weight is an absolute thing, each weight class covers a range of wraps per inch.  But the below would suggest the answer is something along the lines of 'probably close enough'

#4 medium weight =9-12 wpi

#6 super bulky = 5-6 wpi.

If you explore the 'industry standards' menu on the right side of the page, there is a lot of other good stuff there.  These are the standards that US hook makers, pattern publishers, yarn manufacturers have come up with, and follow.
