SC in previous round??

Crochetfaye

Question

I'm struggling at what this instruction means ... work 1 sc around each sc on the previous rnd.

I'm trying to make dungerees for a Hippo toy but not sure what the above is supposed to mean. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Welcome to the ville!  Crochet is very flexible, you can make a stitch in all sorts of unorthodox places.

This would be variety of spike stitch, sometimes it's done to make a sort of ripple pattern \/  \/  \/ over the top of the fabric (like make a sc around the stitch 1 row below, then 2 rows below, then 3 rows below, then 2, then 1 to make a \/ shape. Stick the hook under the stitches of the row below--the stitch you are making will 'show' over the front and back of the fabric.

There is another possibility, a post stitch, which is made around the post of a specified stitch - but if this is the case, it should have said which type of post stitch, because you can work a front post (pulls the stitch below to the front) or back post (pushes the stitch below to the back).
