"SK" and "miss" in the same patter

ChrissyM1

Question

Hi there

I am not very proficient in pattern reading and am a bit confused.

I know that sk is often the abbreviation to skip a stitch but in this particular setting I'm not sure.

I'm making a lacey pullover.

The foundation row pattern reads as follows:

1 dc into 2nd ch from hook *1 SK, miss 3 ch, 1 dtr into next ch, 1 SK, miss 3 ch, 1 qtr into next ch, 1 SK miss 3 ch, 1 dtr into next ch, 1 SK, miss 3 ch, 1 dc into next ch, rep from * to end, turn.

All the other abbreviations, working into the chain and the repeat and turn at end I follow.

I am only stumped by the 1 SK, miss 3 ch - is it skip a stitch and then chain 3 and miss 3 below?

If anyone shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.

Good guess!  The pattern should have had a 'special stitches' section and 'sk' should have been defined there as it is not a 'basic stitch' (meaning, the designer wouldn't explain DC or chain in a 'special stitches' section, but should explain how to do a Solomon's knot).
