Help with a pattern

holly123371

Question

Hi, I have a pattern to follow up where I can’t figure out how it’s gone from 45 stitches to 50.

It’s from round 4 to round 5 and I’ve also included the corner pattern

The corner pattern says: dc, ch2, dc in the same stitch (round 3)/chain space (rest of rounds)

Round 4 had 45 stitches and then round 5 pattern is: sc, mbo, sc, corner 1, sc, mbo, sc, sk1 repeat 4 more times sl st in following stitch, 50 st

Thank you!

Your increases are coming from this part of your pattern dc, ch2, dc as this sequence is worked into one stitch of previous round.  In round 5 this sequence is worked where it says corner 1.  At this point I am curious if you wrote the instructions for the pattern exactly as written because there should be (  ) or [ ] around something to indicate what is to be worked 4 more times.  I am thinking it is the entire sequence that is worked 4 more times so if that corner sequence is worked a total of 5 times you will have increased 5 stitches.
