Stuck on a pattern, need help.

Question

I’m using a free pattern that I think was translated, so i’m not sure if something was lost in translation. I’m stuck on the last part of the pattern where you make the white stem of the leaves and I’ve been testing it over and over but it still doesn’t make sense.

After I complete row 1, it basically forms a circle with a ring in the middle. In the finished photo, it doesn’t match up to what she made of the outter Napa leaves.

Does anyone know a better way to make the white part of the stem?

Pattern:

Nappa cabbage:
Leaves (make 6):

Use white
ch 12
R1: starting from second chain from hook, 7 hdc, 3 sc, 3 sc in corner, 3 sc, 6 hdc, hdc-inc (24) sl st to first st, ch 1

R2: 4 sc, CC to light green,  2 hdc, [dc-inc = rep 3x], [tr-inc = rep 2x], 3 tr in same st, [tr-inc = rep 2x], [dc-inc = rep 3x],2 hdc, CC to white, 3 sc, inc (36), sl st to first st.

I think the pattern works.  I suspect you did not catch that you are working around both sides of your foundation chain If you were working the same stitches it would look like an oval.

Thank you for replying. I suspected that was the case, I tried improvising and working on both sides but I wasn’t sure when I would start to work on the second side of the chain foundation.

Would you be so helpful and help me break down the 1st row? Is the ‘turn’ to get on the other side of the chain during the “3 SC in corner”? Thank you so much

Pattern:

ch 12
R1: starting from second chain from hook, 7 hdc, 3 sc, 3 sc in corner, 3 sc, 6 hdc, hdc-inc (24) sl st to first st, ch 1

I did it!!! I was stuck for 3 days and was just sure there was a mistake in the pattern. Thank you for the help, and the reference site. Seeing a photo of it made it click and you gave me the confidence to go for it when you said you didn’t think the pattern wasn’t incorrect.

Thanks a bunch!!
