I dont understand.

Roseline

Question

Hello,

I'm looking for help in understanding a line in the amigurumi crochet pattern I am working on. The line reads

15 sc, ch 7, [sc] across the chs, sc in the next st, 14 sc, [sc, dec] six times (48)

Can you please help me make sense of it?

I have linked the pattern here.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the 'ville!

I'm going to make some guesses, because that instruction really isn't very clear.  I believe the chain and stitches sticking out will become the top of the beak.  Rewriting that line with more detail: sc into the next 15 stitches, chain 7, turn, skip the first chain and sc into the remaining 6 chains (so, you are adding 6 stitches, and heading back toward the head), then follow the remaining instructions where you sc into the next 1+14 =15 stitches, then do the sc, dec 6 times - so you are adding 6 stitches over the chain, and decreasing 6 stitches at the end, keeping the stitch count even.
