Heydaycrochet's Vintage Doily Bag pattern help questions

Hi.I was wondering if you guys can help me with understanding this patterns Rnd 8? what got me confused is this wording in the pattern.It says  ch 1(`skip 1st dc,dc in next 7 sts,sk last dc,ch3 dc in (CH 3 SPACE X 2?What does space x2 mean?i need help understanding what x 2 means?What do you guys think?

Is there an asterisk in there anywhere?  Is this symbol that I've highlighted in red perhaps supposed to be an asterisk?   " ch 1(`skip 1st dc..."

If so, I'd read it as *ch 1, *skip 1st dc,dc in next 7 sts, sk last dc,ch3 dc in CH 3 SPACE, repeat from * once more. "   But, I'm guessing.

When I'm scratching my head over a pattern I look at the pattern photo, the photo usually clears up most of my questions...

Hi granny square.oops I am so sorry granny square.I totally forgot to answer your first question.

There is a asterisk after the first ch 1 it continues until the dc in ch 3 space x 2,ch3.I hope that I didn't confuse you to much.

OK, so if the asterisk is after the first chain 1, that's where I guessed it was in my post above, so I think/hope what I typed is what was meant...
