Adding a popcorn stitch to completed project/fabric

MarylandLaurie

Question

Hi, I would like advice about how to add a popcorn stitch to a crochet project already done.  Not like during the project, where I'm already attached to the yarn, but to something all done.  Either a completed flat afghan, or even a 3-D shaped amigurumi (not stuffed yet) like if I wanted to add popcorn stitches to a fat little egg shape but after I've finished, not during the making of it.  Anyone have advice?  Thanks!!

Welcome back to Crochetville!

Are you doing just 1 popcorn stitch or several?  There are a few of ways that you can attach stitching to a surface.  Check out

You can turn the above advice into popcorn stitches, then sew the top(s) afterwards.

The other thing you can do is make the popcorn stitch(es) separately.  Then sew them to the project, like an applique.

Thank you!  I never thought of using the surface crochet method to attach yarn and make a popcorn stitch!  I'm going to give it a try!  (Can't ever hurt to experiment!)  I appreciate your help!  :)
