Need help putting a garment together

MagnoliaCharm

Question

I've been working on the Velana Cardigan on page 54 of Crochet! magazine, the Spring 2016 edition.  This is my first time making a garment.  I'm confused about what stitch to use to put all of the pieces together.  The pattern does not specify the stitch as far as I can tell.

I need somebody to help me figure out what stitch to use to sew all of the pieces together neatly.

I don't have the magazine.   is it all made in pieces---like the back is one piece, each front is a separate piece, each sleeve a separate piece?

Here are some sewn joining methods.  I'd probably use mattress stitch for the sides, and something sturdier for the shoulders (since the garment hangs from the shoulders), like the sewn back stitch or crochet slip stitching the seams together.

on the mesh parts, you probably will have just one edge stitch to put the seam into.  so it will be a little harder to hold, but you only want to seam into one stitch anyway, so not that different really.  but also it is harder to seam into the sides of stitches than when you can seam into the tops of stitches.  here is an illustration http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/mar06_croc_seaming.html

in the back of the magazine, there may be some tips on seaming.
