graph pattern help again!

croschet03

Question

I started a graph pattern and it seemed that each row leaned the opposite way the row before did, so the design wasn't straight. I then realized that I was crocheting in both loops. Which loop (front or back) should I be working the stitch in?

(This graph pattern stuff is making me extremely nervous. My husband is very excited for this blanket I am making him. I don't want him to be disappointed if I can't get it to work out right. It'd be like taking a favorite toy away from a little boy.) He'd understand if I can't do, but I really want to make this blanket. (little frustrated here)

Thanks for the help in advance.

Val

As far as I know you do work through both of the loops. Maybe you're slanting the stitch a little as you make it. You would be alternating directions of the stitches because you are alternating directions that you're working on the front and back. If you're right handed, they're probably leaning to the left. Make a conscious effort to keep them more vertical.
