Hairpin Lace Crochet

littleKnit

Question

So about 5 years I started to make an afghan with hairpin lace crochet and I would love to try to finish it. My only problem is that some of the balls of yarn I am using are partially usee and in the middle of the strip i need to join another ball. When i try to do this the whole strips seems to fall apart. I am not sure why. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How are you joining the yarn?  I'm not an expert on hairpin lace, but I thing joining yarn is pretty universal...

I would suggest either Russian Join or Braided Join.  Russian is quicker but leaves a 'puffier' joined area; Braided takes a little longer to do, but blends in better.  I'd suggest making the join at the point you are making stitches versus in the middle of a thready span so they are less obvious.
