What does it mean when it says midpoint and halfpoint in a crochet pattern?

I'd think those mean the same thing, and without context I'd guess they'd be used something like 'when sewing the sleeve to the armhole, make sure to match the midpoint of the top of the sleeve to the shoulder seam' for example.  

 

In other words, you need to find that point to presumably do something there, and for whatever reason the pattern writer didn't bother to define it more exactly, like which stitch or row number that would be.

 

Is there a pattern you can link to online,that you are wondering about?

As far as I know, they both mean the same thing. I've seen both used in explanations about placement of tote and purse handles.
