Shrug help wanted!

Having seen a few beautiful shrugs makes me want to make one.

 

The kind I have in mind is one with a body say in sc or hdc then for the rounds I'd like to have some form of a ribbed stitch. (there are a lot of knitted ones like that, I'm sure you have all seen them)

Now, because of the necessary increases, this is a bit tricky.

 

Anyone with great ideas?

I'd suggest using a fpdc or fphdc, and increasing very carefully in twos, like in this awesome skirt that Cuddlefish made.

 

 

I think using sc in back loops wouldn't work if you're doing it in the round like from Mrs. Who's schematics... You'd have to make your panel then sew it on later...

Those are actually the options I was playing with...

 

Post stitches are too bulky though. I was experimenting with that. They make it way too stiff.

 

Another thought was: using say 2 frontloop sc or hdc followed by 2 backloop sc or hdc and so on.

 

Then there is Dot's method, chaining the length required and working backloop crochet, attaching w. slip stitch etc.

 

Any other suggestions?
