Alphabet blanket help

crochetjey

Question

Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'd like to ask questions about alphabet blanket.

I'm a beginner but I am patient, have lots of time and willing to learn as much as possible.

My husband & I are trying to have our 1st baby and I want to make this for our future baby.

More I learn, more I can make fun things for our baby so I am very excited to learn!

So I found this adorable picture of alphabet blanket.

But not sure where this is from so I have no idea where to get the pattern.

I know the alphabet isn't in order but I am planning to make mine in order.

I think these are windmill & alphabet granny squares stitched together.

I've found similar patterns for these squares, so I can make them no problem.

But in what order...???

As you can see, I am missing letter Z.

I've tried to make them in different ways but I just can't make it look like that blanket!

Numbers of alphabet is the problem I think...

How many squares of windmill and alphabet do you think I will need?

And in what order should I make?

Welcome to the ville!

The blanket in your photo is knitted, so it is not really possible to recreate it exactly in crochet. But if you have crochet patterns for squares that you like, of course you can make a pretty blanket. This free pattern http://www.free-crochet.com/detail.html?login=1&code=FC00865&cat_id=302 is one layout that gets in all the letters ( you have to sign in to the site)

I haven't gone letters in crochet, but it seems like it would take a larger square for crocheted letters than for knitted.

There are some from ravelry that might give you some ideas:

Ahhhhhh.... Such a beginner mistake, can't tell difference between knitting and crochet! lol

I didn't even think of that possibility!

Thank you for your link and I am looking into it right now.
