Circle in middle of blanket

I'm making my son a Pokeball blanket for his birthday. I've made the poke ball, but I don't know how to now make it in to a square blanket. I do need to make black strips to cover the seams and complete the poke ball.  Below is what I have so far. Thanks so much in advance!

The easiest would be to make a square blanket and sew the circle onto it.

When I make granny squares with circles inside them, I count up how many stitches make up the outer circle, divide by four to get an idea of how far apart the corners are, and then build them up with a series of single, double, and triple crochet stitches.

I'm with magiccrochetfan. For this particular blanket, I'd keep the circle separate and sew it onto a square blanket later.
