Yarn eater?

I found a pattern called the Blueberry Striped Afghan and have a question?

 

I am assuming (Ewwww hate that word) that this is a yarn eater?  What would be the easiest way to figure out how much yarn I need for each row?

it Will help if you tell us where the pattern is so we can look at it.

 

you may have to crochet a row and then weigh it or rip it out and measure the yardage.

Since it's an Etsy shop, I'd contact the owner and ask.

 

Or crochet 1 motif the row requires.  Take it apart and measure the yardage.  Or use a throwaway yarn and mark it with permanent ink every yard and keep track while making the motif.
