Mile a Minute?

origami

Question

Okay, I keep on hearing "mile a minute" in reference to afghans. I assume it is a certain way of making an afghan in strips. I have looked at some afghan books and see "mile a minute" patterns and I even have an afghan made by my late grandmother and I am pretty sure it is "Mile a Minute" style.

What I cannot find is a description of what "Mile a Minute" is and I'd sure appreciate some background and insight. Would someone be kind enough to enlighten me as to what makes an afghan "Mile a Minute."

:huh

In a mile-a-minute afghan, you make one panel and when you are finishing the last round of subsequent panels, you attached them to the panels you already made. So they work up in pieces, but you attach them as they go. And they are long strips instead of squares. I think that's it.
