Did anyone watch the Preaknesss? When they were walking the horses to get ready for the race, 2 horses had crocheted head pieces on.

These were not the ones running in the race. One was blue and one was white. It cover the ears, the top of the head, down to between the eyes. One had tassles on it.

keeps the flies off the ears I know. maybe just for fun to?

Many times you put cotton in the horses ears to muffle crowd noises and whatnot, those can also help to keep that in place. I just use them for the bug reason though.
