a question about a afgan

A question im making a 8inch squares for a afgan that Im doing for chrictmas gift an my first time making one so i was wanting to ask how many squares should I make to make a bigger enough afgan to wrap around a person?

Any size you choose. about 45 inch wide and 60 or so long, just make up your squares , I would make 6 squares width and 8 long, whip stitch or weave together, that simple, this is the standard measurement, but one can make any size they choose, normaly it should be longer than width, and thats all you need to know. Have fun.

I am absolutely horrible at trying to judge sizes:blush . For example if left to my own devices I would make a baby blanket that is queen size. Anyways, I have found this link on the net. It has common blanket sizes listed that tell what the equivalent would be, for example "Comforter size Twin: 66x86 inches." Hope this site helps.
