So sorry if this has been asked before: How many strands = bulky?

I have picked out and bought my Christmas present pattern. It calls for bulky yarn, and I was wondering if I could just use two strands of RHSS? Or might it take three? TIA! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

I would try 2, and if it doesn't meet gauge, then try 3, heh.

What size hook does it say to use? If it's an M or N I would use 2 strands. If it's a P probably 3 or 4 for a Q.
