Hand dyed thread for a baby blanket?

Has anyone ever used hand dyed yarn for a baby blanket? I was considering it but was wondering if it would be safe if the baby put the blanket in its mouth. Does anyone know if it's safe?

i think its ok if you dye with ecofriendly non-toxic dyes, food coloring or natural plant dyes such as onion peels and stuff.
