Need measurement help, plz!

I am making a baby bonnet, size 3 months, not following a pattern (experimenting), but now Ive gotten part of the brim done and don't know when to stop.

 

Does anyone know, or have a bonnet to measure, how deep the brim should be? Measuring from the beginning of the brim, forward to over the eyes.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Am I right that you're making like a sunbonnet? For a three-month-old, I'd say maybe two or three inches for the brim. You could make it deeper, but I don't really think it would be necessary.

Thanx for the info....I'm making a bonnet, the sort that would go with a layette set.

 

I have it worked out I think, now to add ribbons.
