baby wave bib

Baby Wave Bib

Materials:

· Yarn: Bernat: baby jacquards in I’m a big boy, 2-3 oz. (not sure on exact amount, I was working with a full skein).

· Hook: Size I/9 (5.5mm) or any size to obtain gauge

· Other materials: stitch markers, yarn needle

Finished measurements: 8 ½”/ 21.59cm wide x 8 ½”/ 21.59cm long (not including length of ties)

Gauge: 1 wave and 5 rows = 3 ¾”/ 9.5cm over wave pattern (gauge is not critical)

 

Special Abbreviations:

· Dc3tog (double crochet 3 stitches together)-

[yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

· Join with sc (single crochet)-

Place a slip knot on hk, insert hk in indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.

 

Bib-

Chain 31

Row 1: (right side) 3dc in 4th ch from hook, (beginning ch does not count as a st) dc in next 3 ch, [dc3tog] 2 times, dc in next 3 ch, 3dc in each of next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, 3dc in last ch- 2 waves.

Row 2-10: ch 3 (does not count as a st) turn, 3dc in 1st dc, dc in next 3 sts, [dc3tog] twice, dc in next 3 sts, 3dc in each of next 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts, [dc3tog] twice, dc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in last st.

Edging:

Row 1: Join with sc in top of first wave, sc 36 sts evenly across top and down 1st side of bib, 27dc across bottom, sc 18 sts evenly across 2nd side of bib, sl st to beginning ch, do not turn.

Row 2:, ch 22, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch down tie, sc in next 12 sts, ch 22, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch down tie, sc 21 sts evenly down side of bib, 3sc in corner st, sc in next 25 dc, 3sc in corner st, sc 21 sts evenly up side of bib, sl st to beginning ch, fasten off. Sew in all ends.

I made one of these bibs on friday, omg, its gorg!! my little one that we are expecting is a boy, so i did it in boys colors and it looks like an M shape!, his name will be Max! very cool!! will post a pic on here as soon as i take a pic of it. thanks for the lovely pattern!!!
