I love what I have seen here but I'm almost afraid to try it any advice?

My advice: don't be afraid! just dive in. since you aren't following a pattern it is impossible to make a mistake, and if you don't like what you make, just rip it out and reuse the yarn/thread.

 

did you read through the threads in this section? I know there are several that have some pointers/advice/ideas.
