No knots but stripes in the solid yarn

Well, there were no knots in the skein of RedHeart SuperSaver Black that I am using to finish off a join as you go (down to the last several squares) afghan when I decided to roll up the last bit of the skein, before it tangled itself and annoyed me. Well, I look down and there are about 4 inches of red/black stripes in the yarn. This was the last of the four skeins I was using, never saw that before. Naturally I just cut the piece out (didn't really matter since it was a join as you go but it was weird. It was almost like it was twisted, like when you use two strands together but more defined.

 

First that I have ever seen. Hope never to see it again.

I've seen that before. It may be something as simple as they changed the colors in the dye tank but really - I have no idea.

 

I would call and let them know.

I will e mail them, unfortunately I don't have the label anymore. Once I get to a certain point, it comes off the skein. I just thought it was strange, usually I see the occasional knot.
