Putting the squares toghether

So I have completed 20 squares... I want to make scarf with them. My problem is I am not sure how to put them together (I am thinking that safety pinning them together will take away from the overall effect I was aiming for). I used RH Soft Baby if that makes a difference. I would like something that will lay flat and would look pretty and would be sorta easy to understand. (Wow I want a lot)

You need to crochet them together either using sc st or slp t. or what ever you want. Or you can sew (with crochet thread used ) together using a whip st. and a darning needle or plastic needle with large eye, really simple. NO safeypins.

What you're talking about is joining. In the Free Instruction part of http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com there are various joining methods there. One that a lot of people here like is the Flat Braid Joining Method.

Thank you for all the help. I have been trying to work with it. The squares that have sc on the edges are okay sorta (with time and practce they will get better). But the squares that are more "lacey" I am having some trouble with. They are edged with turning chains. The other thing is that these squares are done back and forth not on the round. I am going to take them along with a hook, darning needle, and yarn and ask if any crochet and can help me join them. If not I will carefully store them and take them with me when I visit my mom and she will help me (hopefully).
