Velour yarn for ponchos?

Has anyone done the lacy ponchos with velour yarn? It looks like it would be a very pretty winter type poncho?

I've used TLC Amore and made several mesh stitch ponchos. They turned out beautifully with a wonderful drape. Below is the link to my album (I haven't had a chance to switch these to photobucket). The first one (Angela's Poncho) was done with the TLC Amore.

Well I started one today in velour yarn.. it's working up real good.. I don't think I'd do a real heavy pattern, but the lacy one is great

 

I started it as a circle and have just been adding as I go.. the next one I'm going to do will be a bit different, but I think this one is going to be very classy looking

I made a couple of ponchos with the Lion Chenille. It is thin, ribbon like chenille. I used one of the groovy website patterns and they came out great. They give almost a suede look.

I'm really liking how this one is turning out.. I started it just as a round poncho (no pattern really) but am going to put a tapered front and back on it now if I can keep the pattern going right so it looks good

 

I do this sometimes, will start on something and if I can't find a pattern that is what I want, I'll just start putting it together until a pattern emerges on it's own.. it works (usually) !
