Determining a yarn's weight

I know someone on this site can tell me: how do you determine the weight of a yarn if it's not included on the label? Jo-Ann's Sensations brand does not label the yarn by weight , although it does have a suggested hook size. Specifically, I have some Angel Hair that recommends a size M hook, which I'm guessing makes it a bulky yarn.

i would say a 5...though i liked using a k hook better...
