Setting Sugar and Cream color

I have a question and I was hoping you could help. (let me know if this belongs in another forum) I've been making some dishclothes with Sugar and Cream, and they work great. Two colors yellow and Navy. When I wash the yellow ones they are fine, but the color from the navy seems to bleed. I think I saw something about "setting" the color, maybe with vinegar, but I don't know how. Has anybody done this? Does it work?

Try soaking in a strong salt water solution - 1 c salt to a gallon or so of hot water for several hours before washing...At least this works for blue jeans, so I would think it would work for cotton yarn....
