what yarn should i use for a shrug?

Question

So I just really started crocheting so im not really too sure what kind of yarn would be really good for a shrug. But i do have a pound of lb baby yarn my cousin got me, and i dont kno what to do with that so should i just use it?

Almost any type of yarn can be used. Currently I'm making one with Lion Brand's Microspun in 11 different colors. I love the feel & colors of Microspun but the 6 threads to make a strand tend to separate while crocheting so you have to be careful to pick up all 6 strands. Otherwise it's the softest yarn ever!! And it comes in tons of beautiful colors and some really bright colors.

Yep, whatever yarn you want. I like to use the baby yarns or Caron Simply Soft so that they are soft against the skin if you're just wearing it over a tank top. Some of them can be a little itchy I think.
