Tapestry Crochet

I just found a wonderful tapestry crochet pattern. I would love to try it out, but I do have a question if anyone here has done this type of crocheting. Do you carry the yarn along with you as you go in tapestry? I love the look of it, any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is my favorite way to do colorwork as it is very tidy - you usually use no more than 2 colors in a row, and crochet over the color that isn't being used (like you might crochet over a yarn 'tail'). This makes the piece a bit stiffer than usual, so you see it used a lot for totes, bowls and such more than garments. You can use more than 3 colors but it gets stiffer yet.

Thanks...I thought you might carry it along but it is always good to ask. Granny Sqaure this pattern is for a hat, the brim has tapestry fish on it...from Ravelry, very cute.
