DC in which one?????????? Help

DC in first ch?????

 

 

Hi! I am attempting to make this heart bookmark with my fist attempt working with thread. I've been crocheting several years just easy stuff.

 

The pattern says

Ch 3; DC in first chain. WHat does that mean...the first chain 'from the hook? of the first chain I made which would then be the the end chain by the slip knot?

That's right, your dc's go in the first chain you made, the one next to the knot. That's a real pretty bookmark. Good luck with it.

The ch at the opposite end from the hook.

 

I made a couple of Beth's star afghans this weekend and had the same problem... Took me 5 tries, but that is what I finally figured out actually worked. lol
