You can write & save it in Word. Once it is saved, you can then convert it to a pdf file with Adobe Acrobat or other pdf maker software. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional but I also have a print driver (may not be the correct term for it)for pdf. When I installed Windows 7, Adobe was not compatible as far as recognizing the pdf to print. So for a work around, I found a free pdf maker and instead of printing out on paper, I print to the pdf maker; that actually saves it to pdf a file. The software is Bullzip Pdf Printer. Works great. I'll have to look up the link for it though.

Here's a link to download Bullzip.

When I write patterns, I write them in MS Word.

I pdf them with Primo PDF. http://www.primopdf.com/download.aspx You'll find a lot of 'free' pdf makers for personal use but they want you to pay for it if it's for business use.

I use Foxit PDF Reader. I don't even have adobe installed on my machine. http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/

I have used Foxit (love it) and Primo in the past; however, for some reason Windows 7 wouldn't run them either. I figure eventually upgrades/patches will be available. Then again, it could be my computer, lol.

I have W7 and it runs them both. If you upgraded it comes with 90 days of customer service. If you're still within that time frame I would call them.

Thank you for the information; although I think we are over the 90 days. We received W7 the day it was released. My husband did Beta testing for something/someone and in turn he received a huge discount codes for pre-order full versions of W7. I am sure DH could figure out the issue but doesn't want to be bothered at this time; since I was able to get Bullzip as a work around. Since Foxit works with your W7, I am now thinking it is more on the part of my Adobe Acobat (a very old version) not compatible with W7 instead of the other way around. For what I use it for and the cost of full versions of Adobe, it is just not worth getting a newer version. I can live with my current set up for now.

Just make sure that your Adobe is updated. There was a malware attack that was directed to the older versions of adobe. I didn't pay much attention to it because I don't run it.

I do remember that you're supposed to UNcheck the 'open in your bowser' box.
