I want to use craft felt to make a mixed media blanket for my friend's teenager. She wants unicorns and angels. I thought i can apply a angel ornament on a square of felt, and embroider a unicorn on another. Then maybe granny square them with yarn together. My big question is... will the acrylic felt squares make it through the wash. Anybody know?

I have never used acrylic felt in an afghan before. Run a square through a was load and see what happens.

 

Another alternative for the felt, you could use fleece that you buy by the yard and cut squares out of that and do your embroidery.....

Go for the fleece, definitely. There are a couple of gizmos that make it easier to punch the holes on the edges to crochet through. I know of the Edgery Doo and the skip blade, but there may be others.
