Beginner: border then weaving?

CatsCradle

Question

I am just a beginner with crochet, only been crocheting about a year. The pattern I am working is very easy, however; it states to make the border BEFORE weaving ends.

I was taught to weave ends before working the border.

What is the correct way?

I don't like the ends hanging loose.

I don't think it really matters either way. Some people just like to get all the crocheting done before they start on the ends, others like to do it as they go.

You can weave ends in before or after the border. However, if you work the border over the existing ends, depending on the stitch pattern you're using, your work may be sufficient to cover and secure the ends so you don't actually need to weave them in. You could just cut them off.
