multiples?

Can someone explain to me in simple idiot proof language what it means when I read in a pattern to chain in multiples of X+1?? Does that mean X times say 12 then add one to the answer? <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/scratchhead.gif" />

oh, I am so enjoying my yarn high <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/cloud9.gif" /> I'm still on it today heheh I decided I didn't like the thoguht of dragging the couch out every time I wanted to look at my new yarn so I hauled it all out this morning after the kid and hubby left. Put it all on the sofa, took better pics (on my blog now) and re-oraganized it all into my German bedding baskets (after I emptied them out heheh) so now I can actually access it all whenever I want with minimal effort. I've been planning projects as I played this morning too! I think I'll spend the afternoon working on a few small things just so I can get my hands running through it <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/toothygrin.gif" />

 

Thanks again ya'll for helping out with the multiples thing, I thought I was understanding it but had to get confirmation before I tried to actually use it lol.
