neck warmer

i wear a lot of v necks and it can get chilly, so made myself a neck warmer, then thought i can easily be done in different sizes, so that what i spent yesterday doing and this is the result, hope you like it

REQUIREMENTS

 

3.5 mm/E crochet hook

50 grams double knitting wool

Or

2 ounces of light worsted

6 med buttons

Tension/gauge UK 9tr x 5 rows to 2inches/5cm

Tension/gauge USA 9dc x 5 rows to 2inches/5cm

 

Abbreviations

ch – chain, sl st – slip stitch, sc – single crochet, dc – double crochet, tr – treble, st – stitch

Measurements (13) 14 (15) 16 (17) 18 (19) inches/ (27.5) 30 (32.5) 35 (37.5) 40(42.5) 45 cms

When measuring neck make the next size up so it isn’t tight

Uk terms

3.5 mm crochet hook

Ch 62, 67, 71, 76, 80, 85, 89,

Row 1: 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end, (60) 65 (69) 74 (78) 83 (87) sts

Row 2: 3ch, 1tr into each st to end

Repeat 2nd row 7 times

Row 10: 3ch, 1tr into next (11) 12 (13) 14(15) 16 (17) sts, turn

Repeat 10th row 11 times, break yarn

Miss (8) 9 (10) 11(12) 13 (14) sts and rejoin yarn to (9) 10 (11) 12(13) 14 (15) th st,

Row 1: 3 ch, 1tr into next (19) 20 (20) 21 (21) 22 (22) sts.turn

Repeat 1st row 9 times, break yarn

Rejoin yarn to other end of work

Row 1: 3ch, 1tr into next (11) 12 (13) 14 (15) 16 (17) sts, turn

Repeat 1st row 11 times, break yarn

Button band

 

Rejoin yarn to the top left of neck

Row 1: 1ch, 2dc into side of each tr to bottom, turn (42 sts)

Row 2: 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, turn

Repeat 2nd row 3 more times, break thread

Buttonhole band

 

Rejoin yarn to the bottom right of neck

Row 1: 1ch, 2dc into side of each tr to bottom, turn (42 sts)

Row 2: 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, turn

Row 3: 1ch, 1dc into first 3 sts, 2ch, miss 2 sts, *1dc into next 5 sts, miss 2 sts, ch2, repeat from to last 2 sts, 1dc into each st, turn

Repeat 2nd row 3 more times, break thread

Sew in threads and sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes

What a wonderful idea! I love the style, too. I can't wear turtleneck tops, so most of my necklines are v, and I can use this to help keep warm. Thanks so much for sharing! Just in time, too! It's getting cold here!

Very cleaver idea! I wear v necks because i can't stand tight things around my neck. I like this because you can button it up to the point you can tolerate.
